Channel O To Shut Down This Month

M-Net to shut down Channel O Africa from March 31st. M-Net on March 10th announced that the music on Channel O Africa is moving house on 31 March when the channel stops airing on DStv channel 320 and GOtv channel 70 (where available). Channel O will hand over the baton to AfricaMagic, who are taking over as the new home of local music in Africa. One of the results of this new approach was the termination of the rest of Africa feed of Channel O, to allow M-Net to create customised music content according to regional preferences on its existing Africa Magic brands where the rest of Africa’s music talent will get ample space to shine. The statement from M-Net said: “From 1 April, subscribers can tune into AfricaMagic World (GOtv channel 10 and DStv channel 155) to keep abreast of the best in West African music talent.” “The channel will get viewers into party-mode with an hour-long daily music show which will showcase the latest music videos made in Africa. Maisha Magic Swahili on GOtv channel 4 and DStv channel 158 will continue to support the East Africa’s musicians by promoting their music videos on various music shows.”

Kenzo uses three video production houses in ‘Number Yo’ video shoot.

Eddy Kenzo
Singer Eddy Kenzo today shot his Number Yo video. Unlike the usual videos where musicians choose one particular videographer to shoot their video, Kenzo has used three different videographers to shoot his upcoming Number Yo video.
He hired Jah Live for the Red camera, a one Beta who also doubles as his manager for shots and a Kenyan video making company for the lighting. The singer stressed he is making another classy video.
“Eddy Kenzo is known for his quality videos and this is gonna be one of them as well. It is not the first time an artiste is using more than one videographers in a video but maybe its new here,” a video vixen told us.

Number Yo video will be out early April and believe me this concept will be one of the finest this year.

UGANDA’S LESLIE KASUMBA RESIGNS FROM CHANNEL O…’SEE REASONS WHY’

Africa’s most influential and reputable media personality, Leslie Kasumba, has parted ways with the South African-based music television, Channel O.

After a 3 year run as Head of Africa’s first original African Music Channel, Ugandan born Leslie Kasumba has resigned.

The amiable media personality is well known for popularising the Southern Africa based music channel amongst West and East African audiences.

Confirming her resignation by a phone chat, Lee Kasumba as she is better known explained,“ I had an incredible ride at Channel O. It’s an honour to have been a part of projects like the Africa Rising, CHOAMVAs, Africa Dreaming, Top 10Most and others that in more ways than one brought Africa together as one.

I will forever cherish the people I worked with at Multichoice Africa; no one can deny it's one of the most dynamic companies in Africa that feeds into the continent in so many ways. And the leadership in my opinion is amongst the best anywhere Nicco Meyer, Yolisa Phalale and Patrica Van Rooyen really are people I respect and honour.

I am particularly grateful to Biola Alabi who was an incredibly driven boss who knew how to drive and empower those around her. She taught me a lot just by watching her. And I also feel that Wangi and Michael are going to drive the business in new ways and I'm excited to see how it all works as they are passionate and great strategists.”

When asked about her future project, Ms Kasumba remained mysterious.
“ I would prefer to keep silent on this she explained, an announcement will be made shortly,” she added. This statement adds fuel to the already buzzing rumour mills which link her to Roc Nation Africa set to kick off in March 2015.

Fille Can’t Hide the Pregnancy Anymore – She Looks Not Cool

Fille Can t Hide the Pregnancy Anymore She Looks Not Cool PICS
Stories connecting to singer Fille’s pregnancy have waved in our ears and refuted by Fille claiming she’s just fat until last week when our cameras landed on her with her swollen tummy
The Fitina singer nowdays takes half pics that don’t show the big tummy and if not that, she posts those she took way back all in the name of hiding the pregnancy and this leaves us wondering why do so?? Is she not happy with the situation? Or she feels Kats isn’t the best???.........
Even in the making of latest Video, they had to compact the tummy but all in vein as the tummy is abnormally big and Kats might be the next Salongo following singer Akay, the brother to Chameleone and Weasel
Fille however looks not cool and if you happen to meet her, you might fail to recognize her and instead mistake her for a muhima woman fresh from the villages of mbarara. Right from the dressing to the looks, she bangs samona and makes her look like she’s from eating fish filet and for the size…you know her “COLOSSAL”

CHAMELOEN IN STUDIO WITH NIGERIAN STAR PATORANKING….COLLABO IS PERFECT ‘CRITICS’

Singer Jose Chameloene is in studio with Nigerian star Patoranking recording a track that is titled “Fire”.

The two stars met last month where the “Girl O” singer proposed for a collabo that would fuse West Africa and East Africa.

Critics predict that the song will be one of the popular and nice tracks that the continent will listen and watch to in the next months.

The Afro beat style of Chameleone and Patoranking’s dancehall will surely deliver a nice song as many predict.

The Guy in Sanyu Robinah’s Tape is Identified and narration of how it went Viral – Clear HD video with Sound Already in our Hands Sanyu’s sextake has rubbed off Desire’s Kitone and Zari’s Desert documentary but it would even have gone beyond if the guy’s face was seen plus sound because fine Sanyu is seen hishing like as if it hurts but still sound not steady……….. ok you can say am crazy but truth is you are more crazy because I watched that video once and deleted it but You-à as in YOU; you’ve watched it more than twice and you’ve even kept it for further revision Anyway back to business, you’ve all been complaining of the guy hiding his face and sound/volume but hey, we got your back on this…. The guy in there has been identified as Abas Kizito aka Ongom and he’s a former employee at Bukkede and from the picture, if you are a bukedde fan, then am sure you recognize the face While talking to Ongom, he requested us not make it a media affair. He opened up the whole untold story and its more than twisted.. The thing happened last year and it was a normal and successful act for Robbinah and Kizito and when Kizito left Bukkede, the fair kinda faded as Sanyu was promoted and she got into high class league. While jazzing with friends, Kizito revealed the secret that him and Sanyu had ever gone silly and friends looked at him as a day dreamer and in the process of defending his motion, he produced proof of a video which was in HD with clear sound and it went nuts Later, as they went out, a friend snooped into Ongom’s work PC and recorded the video using his phone and just like they say, it is no more a secrest once it’s shared and its the same case here. The friend shared with his friends and they also shared with their friends and hey hey… among friends of friends of friends, there included media guys and the thing went international Related story: The Unfairness in Vision Group - Sanyu Forced To Quit While Defiler+Rapper Katongole Is Enjoying a Promotion Wait for final episode of the story here and if all goes well, we shall bring you the HD 12+minutes video with sound

The Unfairness in Vision Group - Sanyu Forced To Quit While Defiler+Rapper Katongole Is Enjoying a Promotion

The Unfairness in Vision Group - Sanyu Forced To Quit While Defiler Rapper Katongole Is Enjoying a Promotion

if you read the bible, scriptures say

“for whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it."
– [james 2:10 esv ] and from that, the blame goes back to the ethical committee of Vision Group as an entity… on Katongole’s case, they failed to act responsibly and instead, they opted to selling news about the act and this was a clear picture to other members that when you to bad, in return you earn publicity and promotion.
Sanyu did what she did and to me, It feels like almost normal because all adults do s3x right from Robert Kabushenga – Chief Executive Officer to casual worker at Vision group and the only difference is that Sanyu’s case went public but still you can’t tell me that you leave a DEFILER and RAPPEST and chase a descent Sanyu unless the firm has daemons and here at EAchamps, we condemn such inanity
Katongole DEFILED and RAPED a 14 year old and the following day, he was out presenting his satanic show and all full of smiles. To make matters worse, he kept on spitting words of attack to the accusers/victims and he straight went to Bobi Wine’s case of having a child who’s not his….. for all that, it was ok with the management of vision group but when a mature Sanyu, had sex with another Mature, it’s a beyond-worse affair at Vision group
In serious firms, Robert Kabushenga would have resigned before any one for having the worst management regime and then, the defiler and the porn actress would follow next with punishments like never allowing them in any of the firm’s departments and never to see them near vision group premises plus a fine of not paying them any amount the firms owed them plus immediate contract dissolution….

Kenzo Lands Life Time Deal – Soon Changing Citizenship To USA

According to our sources, Eddie Kenzo’s meeting with star Akon was not about just a collab as earlier said by yappy blogs. In the stars’ meeting that lasted for some good hours, they discussed a number of issues and soon, Eddie is acquiring new-professional management team and if all goes as planned, Kenzo will be procuring USA citizenship to start putting up in Los Angeles

Following history, he will be another on the list including Nigeria’s PSquare and many others.
Download his latest: LEVEL 2
If this goes through, the Sitya Loss singer Kenzo will be twice expensive than Davido and Chris Martin put together and what doesn’t this show you?? No more Kenzo in Freedom City and other lousy concerts.

With his broken English and low attitude, the international community has liked Kenzo and this year 2015, expect allot of Americans collaborating with star Kenzo including the likes T-Pain, Montana and others yet to be revealed
“My first meeting with Akon was superb thank God, becoz the conversation we had might change my life, INSHA ALLAH
For God and my country” … said Kenzo
With his hash hashtag #beHappy2015, he couldn’t hold it to himself and bursted the joy on his social lines…”eddykenzo

This DJs & Artists Scuffle Is Up There With The Chicken and the Egg Debate

Artists putting on club performance in Club La Face
Last week the big green monster showed it's face for the exchange between UK-based Ugandan artists and DJs was re-ignited. It's the old tale of [some] artists feeling they're not getting their rightful love from the selectors in the booths. UK-based artists, they reckon, should be getting playlist priority over their Kampala-based counterparts in Ugandan clubs in UK so they should be on top of the Ugandan DJs' playlists. One artist believes it's the DJs that are keeping Ugandan artists in UK underground and the artists remain 'upcoming for 10yrs'.

Incidentally we had a similar discussion, albeit a brief one, with the publisher of Eyecon Magazine (where I also happen to have contributed to the magazine's entrainment pages for a while) only a few weeks ago. Ours was a question of how long an artist should last in that 'upcoming' transition stage. And what should happen to the artists when they reach that expiry date but are still stagnated? That decision being in the hands of club DJs is a totally new perspective to me especially since any good DJ's playlist is not entirely his own doing. To be the best you've got to keep a crowd on it's feet. To keep the crowd on it's feet you've got to play music that the crowd feels. And to do that you've got to be dynamic. So dynamic that you should be able to drop a song just seconds into it the moment you realise it's killing your crowd.

DJs at work
For argument's sake, let's assume DJs did actually have the power to completely dictate what we dance to in the clubs. Does that give them the power to make or break a music career? This also bring into question the statistics of our clubbing community and if that's the size of audience that one believes will make one's career then one would continue to be an upcoming artist really. I wouldn't claim to even imagine the feeling when an artist sees people dancing to your own music in a club. I can only compare it to seeing my byline for the first time many years ago. It must be awesome. Unfortunately by the time we hit the clubs on the other side of midnight most of us are too preoccupied and half-conscious that we will hardly take time to find out who sang the some we're dancing to leave alone remember to download it on iTunes the following day. So as a marketing platform that's one reason to question the club playlist. All this is under the assumption that the music actually fits into the DJ's music plan and it will sustain his busy dancefloor.

Every little helps. Definitely. But an artist sending the DJs to the naughty corner for not playing their music only makes you question how many avenues there is for an artist to plug their material. Unless of course the artist is close to the DJ so the artist thinks the DJ will give him a leg up. In which case it becomes more of a test of friendship than a missed opportunity for career development. The scary fact is that they (DJs) could choose to enjoy the comfort of the naughty corner. They don't need the artists yet, with their options limited in the Diaspora entertainment infrastructure, the artists would struggle to stay afloat without the DJs.

EAST AFRICAN ARTISTES & FANS IN SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN DEMANDING FAIR AIRPLAY ON INT’L CHANNELS

Unfair airplay of East African music videos on the continental channels is not something new. Musicians and fans have lost their cool over the so called monopoly by West African music played on these channels.

They claim that some videos played are of poor quality but these channels continue to give them massive airplay each day thus denying East African artistes chance to shine on the continent.

They point out MTV Base and Channel O that plays almost 90 percent of Nigerian music but they acknowledge Trace TV that tries to offer East Africans fair airplay.

Below are some of the posts from the trending hashtag on Twitter and Facebook. “#‎wewantfairairplay”

"Africa Isnt Made Up Of Only West And South Africa"..We Pay For Yo Channels On Dstv Expecting To Enjoy More But U ‪#‎mtvbaseAnd ‪#‎channel0

Hw Can U Hv An African Official Countdown N Deres No Any East African Song U Guys As If Yo Meaning Dat We Dont Have Good Music Frm Ug, Kenya, Rwanda, Tz, Burundi Etc So

U Guys Work Upon Dat Playing 9 Songs Of Wizkid A Day And Only One Song From East Africa Is Mob Inequality...!!

East Africa demanding fair representation of EA Music on ChannelO & MTVBASE @DStv_Kenya Kenyan musicians Tupo? ‪#‎Wewantfairairplay

This morning we've come up with this campaign to acquire 'Fair Airplay' on these African music channels. In the above pic is DJ Joe Mfalme,a Kenyan DJ responsible for submitting videos and other music projects from East African artistes and making sure East African talents are exposed to Channel O Africa and MTV Base Africa.

I would like to inform you all that he is not doing enough (or rather totally nothing). We as a team (together with a few other guys) have come up to fight for the rights we were granted. Look here,we subscribe for these PayTV channels and I know there are contracts/agreements that were signed/reached at by music agents (e.g DJ Mfalme) in regard to how much exposure East African music should be pushed.

In return,we the fans subscribe to their channels to offer viewership since our region is part of their area of coverage. To our disappiontment however, you can spend an entire day watching Channel O and you will only watch 3 East African videos compared to a mindblowing figure of about 7 videos from Wizkid alone.

You can imagine. I know you're gonna come up with an arguement and say that these channels are local channels in Nigeria and S.A..but if so,then why do they sign agreements requesting for viewership from our countries? They want the exposure, right? So what makes them think we do not want to share the same spotlight?

They claim Channel O Africa plays all good videos from the African region;but Africa is not made up of Nigerian,Ghana and S.A. There are countries like Tanzania,Uganda,Rwanda,Burundi,D.R.C e.t.c. How can you make an African countdown and there's entirely not a single music video from East Africa? How? Is that fair? I don't think so too!

So,please let's join efforts and ask for one thing only. FAIR AIRPLAY. I know not all are gonna support this drive, but I want those willing to join me on twitter, facebook, instagram and other modes of social media and put this message out loud (in anyway you choose) specifically to @ChannelOAfrica @MTVBaseAfrica @TRACEAfrica with the hashtag ‪#‎WeWantFairAirplay
Incase you have better ideas on how to tackle this problem, please reach me and we can share it all and break down this issue of Music Regionalism. AFRICA is ONE!!

ive been able to witness several poor quality Nigerian n Ghana vids playing on channelO n it really beats my understanding wen these pipo say that fo a vid to be played it has to be of good quality fo an easy example, chec Cynthia Morgan vids and they aint in anyway different frm d vids med here in Ug
