Africa’s most influential and reputable media personality, Leslie Kasumba, has parted ways with the South African-based music television, Channel O.
After a 3 year run as Head of Africa’s first original African Music Channel, Ugandan born Leslie Kasumba has resigned.
The amiable media personality is well known for popularising the Southern Africa based music channel amongst West and East African audiences.
Confirming her resignation by a phone chat, Lee Kasumba as she is better known explained,“ I had an incredible ride at Channel O. It’s an honour to have been a part of projects like the Africa Rising, CHOAMVAs, Africa Dreaming, Top 10Most and others that in more ways than one brought Africa together as one.
I will forever cherish the people I worked with at Multichoice Africa; no one can deny it's one of the most dynamic companies in Africa that feeds into the continent in so many ways. And the leadership in my opinion is amongst the best anywhere Nicco Meyer, Yolisa Phalale and Patrica Van Rooyen really are people I respect and honour.
I am particularly grateful to Biola Alabi who was an incredibly driven boss who knew how to drive and empower those around her. She taught me a lot just by watching her. And I also feel that Wangi and Michael are going to drive the business in new ways and I'm excited to see how it all works as they are passionate and great strategists.”
When asked about her future project, Ms Kasumba remained mysterious.
“ I would prefer to keep silent on this she explained, an announcement will be made shortly,” she added. This statement adds fuel to the already buzzing rumour mills which link her to Roc Nation Africa set to kick off in March 2015.
